CEMID-HÖHNER, partenaires du projet "Kodaly's harmonica's action" !
18/12/2008 12:28

Send your postcard to the children refugees of Bicske before the 22th please !

A THOUGHT FOR CHRISTMAS

Send a postcard to the refugees of Biscke before the 22th of December !

This project of Multikultura consists of sending a postcard from where you live, from where you are coming, or even from just a town you like.
So that at the end, those postcards come from different parts in order to make an intercultural exchange. This exchange, symbolised by a postcard, remains the idea of travelling and breaking the borders. A thought from an unknown person, a sentence written to a child... This can sound mysterious but someone had this thought to you and wrote this mail to you, personally. The sender took from his time to do it, out of his routine.

At the camp, people from other countries meet together. Afterwards, it becomes brotherhood and solidarity. They feel stronger then, to go out of the camp as they can rely on the relationships they made. After 8 or 16 months, after getting their status, they need to find a job. But waiting for this job, they need money to live and, when they have children, the money coming from the governemnt is not sufficient. As us, they have to pay the rent and the taxes. When they do not cope with the language yet, this makes it much more complicated. Even for Hungarians, finding a job is not so easy.

One day, the refugees leave the camp. Not all of them have the luckiness to find even an activity after that. The social workers are here to give them courage and do their best to avoid this kind of situation.

207 persons are living now in the camp in Bicske. After hard and terrible conditions in their countries (Tibet, Nepal, Irak, Iran, Afghanisthan, Kosovo, Congo, Ethiopia, Somalia...), they are hoping for a more healthy, more quiet life without any totalitary systems and a wing of freedom.

They wanted to enter to Europe. We are criticizing our politicians but we do not even know about the terror they lived. To see a good example of the spirit of their government, may see this indian film untitled "DEV".

Multikultura is planning activities for the refugee children in the Reception Centre of Bicske. Handicrafts and sport are a way to maintain this social link with the Hungarian society and with foreigners. With the students-volunteers, they can practise the language with other persons than social workers and teachers and get to know more about this country . With the European volunteers, they meet with other cultures and feel foreigners among foreigners as the learning of the Hungarian is sometimes at the same level. They can share with us their pride, their dance, their music, their language, their customs.

Multikultura sends Hungarian youth under 30 years of age to European countries as volunteers as well. This organization welcomes about 4 european volunteers per year since 2008.

As Kodaly said that music was medicine, anti-depressive and essential for the human well-being, Multikultura planned to offer an instrument for Christmas to the children.
As the history of the harmonica points out that this is an affordable, practical and easy to play instrument, the children could notice the importance of music in their life. We chose Höhner for the harmonicas, this European german brand as it is well-known for its quality.

The fine restaurant Philippe Le Belge (www.philippe.hu) is very interested in sharing the cultures. They kindly helped us to lead this project and sponsored us.

This souvenir symbolize the strenghtness and richness of the Hungarian musical culture and its education with the Kodaly's schools.

Music is one of the best characteristic of Hungary. The famous Yehuda Menuhin (writer, philosopher and musician) said "The hungarian spirit has something really unique".

Most of the immigrants are muslims but they will celebrate this day-Christmas- as Hungarians, as a happy day.

We help Multikultura to create handicrafts with the children of Bicske. My Turkish colleague cares more about sport activities. We will both stay for 6 months. The relationship with the children got to be more remarkable comparing to the time when we arrived. Now, we know each other.

As Hungary is part of Europe and moreover its music wealthy, its important musical history and its richness have to be noticed by the other European countries. The point is made as well on the fact that in Hungary, there is not just only folk music. I agree with Kodaly, "Music is essential to self well-being and self-development". Some Europeans still do not know where Hungary is situated, and even do not know that it is the most musical country in Europe.

If you wish to send a postcard, send it to the address below. It will be delivered to the children, together with the harmonicas at our Christmas celebration.

Kodaly Harmonica's action
02/12/2008 16:36

Because Kodaly said that music was medicine and essential to live, we decided to offer to the children of Bicske, harmonicas.

This instrument is affordable, easy, practical and you can bring it everywhere.

We could even plan some lessons for them.

We ordered it at CEMID-HUNGARY as they are selling this well-known european brand HOHNER.

We just hope to find a sponsor to make this action properly, that is to say, to be sure that every child has an instrument.

A vos stylos !

Description

Who agree, for sure, to send a postcard to the children-refugees of Bicske camp ? One postcard per child would be great. Multikultura can provide you their firstname.
Of course you can send as well a specialty from your country...
The children speak english, hungarian or arabic language.
Many thanks in advance.

Make the world nicer !
